There is a lot of buzz around the many wonderful effects of CBD oil on the human body. We talked about it briefly when we were listing the benefits of using CBD oil. In fact, with increasing number of researches revealing the many health-positive potentials of the CBD oil, it is becoming a personal favourite among many people.

But how many of us know exactly how CBD oil heals the human body? How does it work? Sit back while we explain.

What is CBD?

Short for Cannabidiol, CBD is a cannabis compound, among other 113 identified cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. CBD accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. CBD has significant medical benefits. CBD-rich cannabis, unlike its much notorious cousin, does not make feel high.

One of the cannabis plants rich in CBD is hemp. Also known as the non-psychotic marijuana, hemp—because of its high CBD content—is an appealing option for patients looking for relief from pain, anxiety, inflammation, seizures, etc.

How does CBD provide relief from these ailments?

Scientific researches have showed us that CBD relates to the Human Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This system is the largest receptor system in the human body. It is responsible for helping maintain multiple functions in the body. Its involvement is witnessed in physiological processes such as appetite, mood, pain sensation, memory as well as in mediating the psychoactive effects of marijuana.

The ECS works on cannabinoid receptors such as CB1, CB2, TRP, etc. CB1 receptors are primarily dominant and located on

  1. the nerve cells in the brain,
  2. spinal cord
  3. central nervous system

This is the main reason why cannabinoid (CBD) relieves the body of stress, depression, anxiety, vomiting, chronic pain etc.

CB2 receptors are usually found on the white blood cells throughout the body and therefore are responsible for providing therapeutic benefits.

Where does hemp come in?

Hemp is a rich source of CBD. It simulates CB1 and CB2 in receptors in the body. The activation of these receptors sets in motion intracellular biochemical reactions. These reactions boost our immune system and decrease any inflammation present in the body. In their dedicated space, they interact with the corresponding ECS and work their magic.

And the magic continues

CBD’s effect and impact on ECS and on the human body indicate that this compound can be useful in treating many medical ailments. CBD has neuro-protectant qualities which help protect the brain from injury. It’s anti-inflammatory properties help ease the pain in the body.

Because of the legality issues, there is abundant research around cannabinoid. These researches have revealed that its effect on the brain and CNS can be helpful in combating psychological disorders such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Even kids with rare epilepsy have shown a decrease in the frequency of convulsive seizures as reported in the studies of The New England Journal of Medicine.

Irrespective of whether or not people believe in CBD’s healing properties, it has to be admitted that it is making a scene. And that scene is here to stay.
