BOHECO, Bombay Hemp Company will launch a store/clinic in Indiranagar, Bengaluru. BOHECO is a Mumbai-based company incorporated in 2013. BOHECO is an agro enterprise that promotes Hemp derived nutrition, lifestyle and wellness products. BOHECO co-founded by six young entrepreneurs aims to make medicinal cannabis and industrial hemp a part of our everyday life. When the decision was made to engage in the cultivation and business of medicinal cannabis and industrial hemp, it was soon realized that in India, there was no formal standardization for the cultivation or business of these plants. Considering that this sector was relatively disorganized, the approach had to begin with grassroots planning and implementation. Consequently, the decision was made to collaborate with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in the northern region of India, as stated by the founders on the company’s website.
Hemp’s uses are kaleidoscopic. “Pull its fibre out and it’ll give you yarn; chop it into softwood, it’ll give you material to build a shelter; harvest its seeds and it will transform into all the health and nutrition a human body needs; study its genetics, and you’ll find medicine. Our design fuses this very potential with the existing industries of agriculture, technology, health and nutrition, to bring together community, impact, and value,” said co-founder Yash Kotak at the launch of the store.
