CBD products are termed to be both safe and natural. Their marketing claims include alleviating physical ailments, stress, depression, and insomnia. CBD can act as an overall wellness supplement.

However, what is CBD, and how is it used? This compound derived from plants sounds incredible, but does it live up to its reputation? As well as being curious, let’s delve further into this matter.

Many people prefer using natural sleep remedies that do not have serious side effects over medications, to improve their sleep. One such alternative is using CBD for sleep in combination with CBN.

Here’s all you need to know about CBD’s origins, effects, and safe uses, whether you’re curious about the hype or want to start your journey.

CBD for Sleep with CBN

Is CBD a medicine?

Cannabis sativa plants contain more than 80 active cannabinoids (chemical compounds), including Cannabidiol, known as CBD. Hemp is also a source of CBD. A natural remedy used for centuries, CBD can be traced back to 2700 B.C.

It was initially discovered as a medical compound and works by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which regulates stress with modulatory substances. In contrast to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD has no intoxicating or mind-altering effects.

CBD and its benefits

Some research suggests that CBD can be helpful in treating and preventing a wide range of illnesses. Studies and evidence suggest CBD’s effectiveness and naturalness may also extend to mental health.

CBD oil may also work as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound and increase anandamide and the neurotransmitter serotonin from its effects on these two chemicals.

CBD has several benefits, including the following

  1. Potential treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, epilepsy, etc.
  2. Depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia can all be treated naturally.
  3. Reducing stress and improving sleep are two of its benefits.
  4. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties make it useful.

CBD: A Guide to Using It

CBD can be extracted from hemp in oil or powder form and added to products such as lotions, capsules, gummies, sprays, and even bath bombs. If you drink coffee or morning smoothies, you can add CBD to your drink. You can consume the natural oil or apply it topically.

Alternatively, it can be vaped or taken sublingually (under the tongue). As CBD continues to gain popularity as a natural remedy, many products and brands are available on the market. There are several ways for you to try it as it is straightforward and easy to use.

How do you define CBN?

Cannabis and hemp plants contain a variety of chemical compounds, including cannabinol, also known as CBN. It is essential to distinguish CBN oil from cannabidiol (CBD) oil and cannabigerol (CBG) oil because it has the potential to provide health benefits. CBD, CBN, or CBG, none of the compounds have any psychoactive effects.

Even though more research is needed on CBN, it has some promising effects.

The difference between CBD oil and CBN oil

The similar acronyms of CBN and CBD often cause people confusion – it’s hard to keep track of everything. Although CBN and CBD have some similarities, there are a few significant differences between them.

As a start, we have much more knowledge about CBD. Even though CBD is still in its infancy in terms of research, it has been extensively studied compared to CBN.

Furthermore, you may find that CBN oil is more difficult to locate than CBD oil. Companies that produce CBD are aplenty because that is the most widely studied and more well-known. Currently, there is less accessibility to CBN (at least for the near future).

Is there such a thing as a miracle sleep aid?

CBN has been used as a sleep aid by many people. Companies that sell CBN oil promote it as a sleeping aid, and anecdotal evidence suggests it may be sedative. However, there is almost no scientific research to support whether it helps.

Although only one study discusses CBN as a sedative, despite its 1975 publication, this study was done without any patients. It included both CBN and the psychoactive compound of marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The sedative effects of cannabis are likely due to the presence of THC.

People making the link between sleep and CBN is likely due to the rise in CBN concentration in old cannabis flowers. The other big reason for the extensive use of CBN for sleep-related issues is its mixture with CBD.

CBD itself has been proven to help reduce symptoms of insomnia along with stress and anxiety. CBD+CBN oil has become quite famous for the same reason. The sleep-aiding benefits of the two combine to provide the best effects for all consumers.

Though there is no substantial evidence suggesting CBN exclusively aids sleep, its mixture with CBD surely does.

What are the risks?

CBN does not appear to have any known side effects, but that does not mean they do not exist. A sufficient amount of research has not yet been conducted on CBN. Children, pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid CBN until it is safe to use. Regardless of your health status, you should always discuss any supplement you take with your healthcare provider.

In a nutshell

CBN is growing in popularity, but very little research exists around its specific benefits or potential uses as a sleep aid. But CBN combines with CBD has gained popularity and might just be a natural sleep aid. Take the time to study and purchase from reputable companies if you decide to take this route.
